The older Shinx's face contorted to a look of disgust mid-run when the girl not only touched but picked up his kin into her arms. Gross. His hind legs pushed harder and he ran faster, baring his fangs. He was so close when another creature jumped in between him and his targets. It was the chubby little bug. Brother Shinx hasn't paid much heed to that one. No matter. He'll just take care of this one too. A fierce snarl ripped from his throat at his new challenger.

Before he could get close enough though, the Bug Pokemon attacked. A webbing of her String Shot caught his forelegs first and tangled as he run. The silk wrapped around all his legs and stomach, clinging persistently to his fur. Soon, too much had built up around his legs that he tripped and stumbled clumsily on his tummy. He yowled in frustration, attempting to kick away the hinderance. Brother Shinx managed to get some off, but a mess of threads were still twisted around his legs.

Determinedly, he jumped to his feet and continued his Tackle at Lolli, occasionally tripping on the sticky webbing. ( "I don't care about your trainer, and that's not my brother!" )

Brother Shinx slammed into Larvesta with all his might. He howled triumphantly at his success. However, as he was reeling back from his attack, a sting feeling blossomed from his chest area. Looking down, he noticed his fur was scorched, the burn settling deep into his skin. The feline hissed in obvious discomfort, the burn hurting with every step he took backward.

Lolli let a yelp of pain when the tackle struck her, almost landing on Layla's feet. However, a stirring feeling of pride flickered in her mind when she saw her ability worked on the Shinx. Serves you right! she thought, as she slowly stood up. She was going to have a bruise on her shoulder. Layla had gasped when the tackle struck Lolli, but waves of gratefulness washed over her when Lolli stood up. "All right, Lolli! Give him an ember once and for all!" She called, pointing at the Shinx. Layla was pretty sure the string shot would slow the Shinx down, as a mass of sticky string was on his legs. She looked at Blackberry, murmuring a few assuring words.

Lolli glared at Shinx as he spoke, and fury raged in her mind. She was glad when Layla gave another order, and she began to start her attack. Did ember work?

Lolli cried in disappointment when the moved missed, fury had took over her and messed up her move as well. She glanced back guiltily at Layla, but her trainer instead returned her a smile. "It's okay, we can do it next time!" she comforted the Pokémon. Lolli then stared at Shinx, prepared to dodge.

Lolli let loose a scatter of flames his way and its target growled as it got nearer. Not exactly enjoying the burning feeling on his chest and definitely not wanting more of that, Shinx made quick work to duck and roll out of the way. The Ember blazed over his shoulder. Brother Shinx scornfully straightened up and sneered at her.

He took off in a run again for another Tackle. He winced when his charred skin started to inflame, but doggedly continued on, screeching and snarling.

Lolli let out another yelp of pain, gritting her teeth. This time, though, she leap on her paws much faster than last time. She was mad, so mad the way Brother Shinx said about Layla and Blackberry. Lolli began charging her energy for her next attack, determined to make it right. She patiently waits for Layla‘s orders as she began getting her energy back. "Let‘s go with another Ember, Lolli!" Layla gave her order. Lolli nodded eagerly and began her attack, making sure her fury did not overcome her. Lolli then released out her ember attack.

Lolli yelped excitedly when her move succeeded, bouncing up a couple times. Layla cheered along with her, as if Lolliw as happy, so was she. Lolli felt slightly proud that her ability at least was useful in battles.

Brother Shinx attempted another tuck and roll. Unfortunately, the tangle of sticky string tripped him up, and he failed to dodge. The feline cried out in pain when the cluster of Embers landed on his fur and burnt him. He batted frantically at the flaming fur, trying to put it out. He was more successful with that than the webbing wrapped around his limbs.

To make everything worst, the scalding he received from making contact with Larvesta was still very much persistent. The burn reminding him everything he was hating about this girl and her Pokemon, Shinx charged forward once more in another Tackle. He wasn't fully fledged yet to know many other moves, but he wasn't about to waste time not attacking.

Lolli huffed in annoyance when once again, she went flying into the air by Brother Shinx‘s tackle. Does he not know any other moves? Lolli thought as she got back on her feet, glaring at Brother Shinx. A feeling of pride stirred into her when she saw the gooey string around his limbs and the burn she had left on his chest. My moves are quite useful after all! The small bug Pokemon thought in glee as she gave a small hop. She turned around to give Layla and Blackberry a small grin.

Layla warmly returned the smile as she pointed once again at Blackberry‘s brother. "Give him another good old ember!" She called, as Lolli began to prepare the attack. With all her might, she let loose a cluster of swift fire. Lolli, was definitely fired up from his battle. Did her attempt at the ember, work?

A wave of happiness washed through the fire and bug Pokemon. A blissed smile was splattered across her face, happiness sparkling in her eyes. ("I did it, I did it!") Lolli whooped excitedly.

Ugh! Nothing was going right today! He usually won his battles, not lose them, especially not to a measly bug! Firstly, there was this darn thing around his legs. He growled furiously as he swiped and clawed at the string, looking like a rabid cub as he kicked and struggled. Even though he might've seemed a bit more mature, Brother Shinx was barely older than Blackberry, his ex-brother. He never had much experience fighting Pokemon that weren't Shinx.

He gave up the fruitless attempt to remove the sticky stuff and prepared for attack. This was a waste of his time. If the String Shot wanted to stick around and impede him, then so be it. He'll have to adapt. That's what survivors, winners, do. He steadied on his haunches, ready to pounce, when Lolli emitted another barrage of Embers. And this one really was a barrage. This order of flames was bigger and flared more violently. Brother Shinx went to dodge it again. Dang the string that made him too slow, too clumsy, and the a Ember hit its mark square on.

A pained howl rent the air as Shinx slammed himself onto the ground. His paws and legs flailed wildly as they try to put out the mini-forest fire that was licking unmercifully at his fur and flesh. The smell of singed skin filled the air long before the flames were extinguished by his frantic efforts. That itself had drained Shinx of any energy needed to even stand, so he stayed, flayed defenselessly on the ground, smoldering Layla, her Larvesta, and his own brother with a look of complete loathing.

Oh, well, it turns out Brother Shinx might've had some energy left in him to make a undignified run for it. Getting to a standing position was an obvious struggle for him, but Shinx managed. With a resentful snarl at his nemesis and kin-turned-enemy, the larger Shinx turned tail and limped hurriedly off into the bushes. His head was held high, but the charred patches of fur and spots where the fur had burnt off completely were enough to humiliate him into scampering off with his tail between his legs. From now on, his brother would no longer be any of his concern. Now.. Must get to family.

As Shinx hobbled desperately back to the undergrowth, the bushes and greenery weren't the only things that he disturbed. A tiny squeak from something was heard. Just as Shinx disappeared from sight, another creature had appeared. From the sky it seemed. The feline's frantic run must've manipulated the air around him and with it, a Hoppip.

The pink thing was sent flying into the air. She murmured in protest a bit and then patiently waited for gravity to drag her back down. When her tiny feet touched land again, she noticed that she was out in the middle of the open. Across from her was a trainer and two Pokemon.

A Hoppip descended from the heavens!

Both Lolli and Layla expected Brother Shinx to stand up and fight again, the pained howl was the last thing on both of their minds. Lolli glanced hopefully at the burned feline; wishing the ember was strong enough to take him down. this is way longer than I thought it would be, the bug and fire Pokémon thought to herself. Lolli winced at the fiery look of hatred shot towards her, Layla, and Blackberry. Layla gave a gentle pat on Blackberry's head. Lolli watched as Brother Shinx struggled up, pride flickering in her mind at his scorched fur. ("Victory!") Lolli yelped delightedly, prancing around like a baby Deerling in a forest it never explored before.

Layla watched quietly as Brother Shinx padded away, his pride now gone. Half of her was proud that they showed him, that they were strong and he would no longer bully Blackberry, but another part of Layla felt just a bit guilty and sad for him. After all, he lost what was most important to him - Blackberry and his pride. She wondered, would he miss his brother? However, Layla gently settled Blackberry down, saying, "You won't have to worry anymore with us," the pink haired girl assured him, smiling warmly as she also reached over to cuddle Lolli. "That was a great battle, Lolli! Your last move was really good," she praised her starter. "I wonder what will happen next?" she wondered out loud.

However, just as Brother Shinx vanished from her sight, a different Pokémon fluttered by, in a pretty pink color with crisp green looking leaves on it's head. She had little memory of this Pokémon - she had seen it once or twice at her father's breeding center, she believed. However, she urgently grabbed her large, nicely sized tie-dyed blue and pink backpack that had a faint splash of purple here and there. She dug for her Pokedex, and triumphtely brought her Pokedex into the air. She then quickly flipped it open, eager to hear more about this cute leafy Pokémon, "Hoppip," the machine stated bluntly, "The Cottonweed Pokémon. This hopping Pokémon is light as a feather, and can be lifted by the gentlest breeze." it finished in a monotone voice. Layla, however, was excited. "A Hoppip would make a great addition to our team, guys! She is as light as a feather - I'm sure it would be quite graceful, and perhaps it'll like to dance! Hoppips probably would make fabulous dancers!" Layla cried excitedly to her two Pokémon. She had a couple of juicy berries from when meeting Blackberry, so she held them on her hand, attempting to attract the Hoppip. If I catch her, maybe I should call her Strawberry, she thought with a soft giggle.

Hoppip calmly watched the girl and her Pokemon, unfazed when she was noticed and Pokedex'd. She did jump a tiny bit when the girl started talking really loudly. Bad idea. Her moment off the ground almost sent her floating off in some direction without her grip on the ground. Man, being a featherweight wasn't too much fun sometimes. She spent all her time holding on tightly to anything underneath her feet if she wanted to remain in one place. It was exhausting work for this little mite!

The squat pink thing brightened at the sight of food, however. Layla was graciously offering her some delicious-looking berries, and Hoppip cried her pleasure. She started scuttling rapidly in their direction. Her minuscule feet only moved her so fast, however. The Larvesta and Shinx were bigger than she was, but they didn't look threatening at all. That was good. She continued her brisk crawl to the berries.

Suddenly, a barely-there wind current breezed through the clearing, not too faint but not strong either, and Hoppip let out a dejected squeal as she was swept off her feet and carried meters back. Another resigned wait for her lightweight body to drift back to the ground. Man, she has to start over, huh? Once sort of firmly perched, she picked up her walking nonchalantly.

The coordinator smiled encouragingly to the Hoppip as it neared her, and the Hoppip gave her cry of delight. She watched as the little Pokémon's eyes met the juicy looking berries, with a variety of colors. Layla had a small bag of leftover berries in her bag, however, she decided to save them and instead just took out about roughly five berries - six or seven, really. Layla burst into a very gentle, soft giggle when the pink creature rapidly skittered over, her legs more like car wheels speeding on the road. The teenager was relieved that neither Lolli or Blackberry look threating. Instead, Lolli had a bright, cheery smile glued on her face while Blackberry had a content look splattered across his muzzle, his tail waving slightly.

When the Hoppip began fluttering metes away, a confused look swept across Layla's face, until she felt the teeniest, tiniest breeze brushing against her gently, caressing her pale skin, which she hoped to get nicely tanned soon. Whoa, the Pokedex wasn't exaggerating! The thought speeded in her mind briskly, though she threw that thought away as she took a couple steps forward, trying to give the Hoppip less space to get to her - or her berries, you might say. She felt bad for the Hoppip, slightly - it must be annoying, getting so close but being pushed away so far once again. Layla waited for the little mite actually quite patiently, though she was on the edge of leaping up and running over. However, she forced herself to push the impatience away and settle down, giving the Hoppip time, as hey, it really wasn't it's fault that she had to start over! She inhaled the air to calm her self and shot the Hoppip another encouraging smile, "You can do it, little one!" she cheered, though quietly, in order to not scare the Pokémon.
