Name: Idina Franklin
Age: 30
Hometown: Born in Fuchsia City, Kanto; moved to Kiloude City, Kalos
Trainer Type: Genetic scientist and ranch assistant
Physical Appearance: Idina is a petite-framed woman of 5'7 with rather long, spiderlike appendages. Her skin is a natural warm tan color with no visible blemishes except for the always obvious circles under her eyes from stressful days of work. She keeps her thick black hair neatly cut at shoulder length and parted to the right, while her left side is pinned back by two bright red hair clips. Of a similar red shade are her large cat eye glasses (the most stand-out part of her appearance), her ear studs, her nail polish, and her lipstick she wears almost daily. Her eyes are small and lack shimmer, looking to be so dark brown that they almost appear black, her eyebrows are self-shaped to have a very stylish looking arch to them, and she has a rather pointed nose. Though her daily uniform comprises of a long white labcoat and black flats, one can usually see the collar of a periwinkle blouse poking out, and underneath she usually wears tight black capris that end slightly below the knee.

Personality: Idina is a very dedicated scientist who values work above all else. Some tend to call her a workaholic, but she disagrees as she thinks the word has a negative connotation and she just views herself as highly productive. Her serious nature tends to intimidate others and make them view her as cold, but she is simply an introvert who happens to have a naturally subdued personality. As her field of expertise is with Pokemon, one would expect her to soften up around them, but even with them she is stoic and aloof. The only excuse is Gimo, her “absolute perfect specimen of a Ditto”, who always manages to put a smile on her face with their silly transformations. Her antisocial personality doesn't necessarily mean that she is awkward and dislikes people. She's perfectly capable of social interaction with adults, but she just tends to not be the most vocal conversationalist and listens more than speaks in groups.
Children, however, do not get the same “friendly” treatment. Idina finds nothing more annoying than boisterous youths who barge in with delusions of grandeur and no respect for the world of Pokemon outside of fame and fortune- and she tends to assume every single brat that comes in is that way. Idina thought she would be able to avoid dealing with any of them, until the ranch became understaffed and her colleagues begged her to help out in the front. Now, everyday her patience gets shorter and shorter. No trainer has come in yet to give her a breath of fresh air and tell her dreams of science and research, and every day her nerves get more and more drilled into. She is curt and short tempered with every one that she deals with, and internally she is incredibly uncomfortable. Due to all of this added stress and the amount of time these kids take away from precious daylight she could be researching, Idina has attempted to cope by compensating with caffeine, and has been consuming coffee at an alarming rate. When on a caffeine rush, she has been seen snapping at co workers and even letting out muffled angry yells when she comes to a rough spot in her work.
History: Idina was born in Fuschia City as a single child to two parents who often volunteered in the Safari Zone. They often would take her with them while they worked because they knew her unadventurous nature wouldn't lead her into exploring too deep (not to mention all the security cameras), so often she would just sit near the entrance and watch. In her mind, all sorts of questions began to form. What makes one Pokemon strong, and another Pokemon weak, when all they have experienced in life is the same environment? Idina would watch two Scyther of the same size battle it out, and couldn't help but be curious what determined the other to win by such an extreme. When her parents enrolled her in Pokemon School, while all of her other classmates slept through the “boring scientific details”, the young girl discovered the name of her fascination- genetics.
As the years passed, Idina remained at the top of her class, and tended to be a loner. Children her age did not interest her, but the adult colleagues of her parents did. Weirdest of all, but showed absolutely no interest in ever pursuing a journey. Instead, she would venture into the Safari Zone with the few friends she did had, and while they caught Pokemon, she stuck with them and observed every one that challenged her. She wrote down their differing sensitivities to rocks thrown at them by her peers, their differing patterns of aggression, everything. She began to be hired for volunteer work just like her parents due to her extensive knowledge of all of the Pokemon in the Zone. Idina managed to graduate from school early due to all of the extra work she decided to take on (much to the happiness of her parents), and immediately after graduating she decided to seek work. She was hired in a small research facility in Fuschia, and worked there until she was 22.
Life in Kanto started to bore Idina. The Pokemon she researched were all the exact same as they were when she was a child, and no progress was being made. Thankfully, as she was not a material person (except for products for her appearance, which she tended to value more than one would expect), she had a lot of money saved up from her years of work and decided to move to the sunny resort of Kiloude City in Kalos, where there was a rumored Safari Zone of genetically superior Pokemon of any type one could imagine. Idina easily settled there, found work in the so called “Friend Safari”, and even met her first life long Pokemon companion. While on a hunt for Dittos (one of the most fascinating Pokemon of all to her, second only to the legendary Deoxys), she stumbled upon a Shiny one. Absolutely enthralled by her double whammy (she would be able to study both Ditto's genetic codes AND the mutation resulting in shininess!), Idina quickly caught it with the use of a borrowed Jigglypuff lulling it to sleep. She didn't just meet a rare specimen that day, though- the Ditto quickly proved to be very interested in Idina and all of her work, and even decided to try to cheer the angry looking woman up. Idina found this all very interesting, and along with studying them, bonded with the Ditto, and even gave them a nickname- Gimo.
At the age of 26, Idina was contacted by William Fig about his Caspian Region project. Idina was absolutely thrilled at the idea of an uninhabited region where she would be able to do the majority of her work alone, and also be surrounded by Pokemon of varying genetic codes who would be breeding like mad and who's offspring would partially belong to her. She quickly immigrated and began her work, spending 3 of those years as the happiest of her life. However, one fateful day, she was told by one of her co-workers way too early in the morning, “Hey 'Dina, there's an understaffing problem, y'know. And since Fig's all old... We could use some extra help with the kids. That Gimo of yours, he likes playing around, y'know? Maybe he could help calm their nerves. And you'd certainly know which Pokemon to give 'em for the best experience, considering how much you can know just by lookin' at 'em.”
As it was way before her normal wake up time and also before her normal coffee, Idina had not completely heard him and just wanted him to go away, so she just mumbled “Sure, whatever” before lulling back into half-slumber. It wasn't until 4 days later that she realized exactly what she had agreed to and couldn't get out of for the sake of the good old man Fig. This was the point when her paradise life started turning into a crazed, child filled nightmare.
