Name: Henry "Jekyll" Jenner
Age: 20
Hometown: Solaceon Town, Sinnoh
Trainer Type: Specialized Breeder (Psychic)
Physical Appearance: Henry (goes by "Jekyll) is a tall man, a few inches higher than most everyone around him. He has heard all of the jokes, thank you very much. He has a pale complexion through both genetics and having never spent much time outside, at least in the sun. He's not a vampire, stop asking. His brown hair is short and dark, and he’s always clean-shaven. In the cities and towns, he usually wears formalwear, being a white dress shirt, brown slacks, and an equally brown trenchcoat. Outside the cities, where his preferred clothes would most certainly get dirty and ripped, he wears jeans, various T-shirts (some with sayings, some without), but he still wears his brown trenchcoat. You will never see him without it, unless he's in the shower or something. And you shouldn't be looking at him in the shower. He has a sharp face to match the intensity in his eyes. His eyes are as dark as his hair. The overall feel of him from his messy hair to his fresh-pressed clothes is “organized chaos.”
Picture:
Personality: Jekyll is a proper man who believes that everyone should be treated with respect. Unfortunately for him, very few people believe that, so he's on his own. He's not very good at conversation, often screwing up what he'd meant to say by going back and trying to fix errors that hadn't even been hurtful in the slightest. He's slightly vain about his intellect and looks down on others. He holds high expectations for other people in how they behave and gets disappointed when they don't live up to them. But for the high expectations he holds others to, he holds himself to expectations twice as high, and, being human, he falls short. Because of this, he has insanely low self-esteem, yet seeks to make other people feel better about themselves. He's somewhat of a hypocrite in that manner. He's also secretive, a force of habit that prevents him from giving people the whole truth, which can harm both the people he's keeping the secrets from and himself. He just can't make himself tell people things, though. He bottles them up inside, which is just plain destructive.
Jekyll is not a terrible person, however. As mentioned before, he believes that everyone should be treated with respect, and follows up that belief with action. Unless someone severely wrongs him, the worst they'll receive from them is a few snarky comments. He's quiet and bookish, and doesn't really bother people unless they go up to him. For the few people who manage to break through the walls he puts up and become his friend, he's protective over them, but not necessarily in an extreme way. He doesn't fake liking someone, nor does he fake disliking someone. He's intellectual, and enjoys sharing the things he's learned with anyone who'll bother to listen. Basically, he's distant and stiff with strangers, avoids enemies, and is kind to his friends.
History: Henry's often been into all sorts of sciences since he was young, be it how lightning from a Pikachu might be different than lightning from a cloud, or what, exactly, happens when you mix a Solosis' jelly with the leftover slime from a Grimer. Some of those experiments wound up being destructive, but not nearly as so as it did to his reputation. He never really gave himself a childhood; he preferred books to games, and his experiments to other people. It was when he was about five that the crime rate had peaked, and his family was afraid to let him go anywhere, so he spent two years locked indoors and being homeschooled, which didn't particularly help his social skills. When he finally reached the age to go to school, he'd wanted to become a scientist. He wanted to try and figure out how, exactly, Pokemon worked, and went to the school. He didn't particularly despise the age limit to go on an adventure, although he didn't like it, either. He wound up taking on a few "independent projects," however, which got him in trouble. He wanted to find out if he could remove the more hostile aspects of more violent Pokemon like Houndour, to make them easier to train and more viable as pets. He caused small "disasters" so he could see at exactly what time an Absol would arrive to warn people. He tried to see what made a Togekiss apparently inherently "good" and what made Pokemon like Drifloon inherently "evil." He was slightly obsessed with it.
His classmates saw this, saw Henry working on this... mad science, started calling him "Jekyll" for his work with good and evil, often teasing that he'd make a "Hyde" with what he was doing. He didn't necessarily mind the nickname, but hated the latter teasing. His teachers urged him to give up the "mad science," that even if he didn't do something that drastic, he would so something horrible. He hated this "advice" at first, but he saw how it was smart and abandoned his work on good and evil. The name stuck, however; his last name already sounded like it, albeit without a hard "K" sound. He honestly prefers that nickname above the more "traditional" one for his first name; he thinks it'd be better to be called a classical book character than "Harry"; that name had... different connotations, lately.
After he was ten, he had to think about choosing a class; he had the opportunity to plan a trainer, possibly "Scientist" class. He didn't wish for the violence, however, and was more interested in Pokemon habitats and how they got along both in the wild and domesticated. People suggested that he become a breeder. Since his family was in Solaceon Town, he had gone along with that... until he'd heard tales about the Caspian Region, that an ex-Champion had created for people to go on adventures, without fear of a crime rate. He'd wanted to leave home for a while, so he spent a year or two making preparations before leaving.
He's still quite interested in science and biology, even though he takes his excuse to travel around as Pokemon breeding, the least violent and competitive option. Henry still goes by "Jekyll" for reasons known only to him. He prefers Psychic types to any other, with many of them being intelligent, so he decided to specialize. Now he's in the Caspian Region, and ready to go wherever it is his journey takes him, although he might drop a bit of snark along the way...
