So that's what a boat ride was like. She had sometimes seen movies of them, of beautiful gals on the edge of them with their arms up, hair flowing, Wingulls happily flying by them, sea spray splashing everywhere. But Josie had to admit she was slightly underwhelmed. There was some rough weather coming over, so everyone had to stay seated the majority of the time. The boy she sat next to had his headphones in and got snappy with her when she wanted to talk with him (probably one of those Jubilife folk), so she was left to the whole ride in almost complete silence. All the rocking made her very sick, and she almost even threw up at one point. All in all, when the boat finally shored, she was the first one to run off- not just from the need to get both of her feet firm on dry land again, but also out of sheer excitement of getting a Pokemon.
Even with her heavy backpack on and former seasickness, Josie's athleticism was unrivaled by all of the groggy city-kids she travelled with. Her boots splashed in the mud as she jogged in the direction the signs point towards the ranch, only starting to lose her breath after 6 minutes, if only because of the thick post-rain humidity. After only two more, though, she arrived at the quaint little cottage. Honestly, it reminded her a lot of the nice country feel of home. She grinned from excitement and let out a quiet squeal, and looked behind to see the sprawling ranch. Well, there were definitely a lot more than just Bidoofs there. In fact, there were tons and tons of Pokemon she had never even seen before. She was mostly only knowledgeable in those species native to Sinnoh (and even many of those were foreign to her), and so all of these various Pokemon of all shapes and sizes seemed almost like a foreign world to her. Excitement overtook her and she ran over to the fence, hopped up so that her arms were supporting her over it, and yelled, "Howdy, Pokemon! I might see one of y'all soon!", before jumping back down and running to the door.
Her trademark grin was flashing brightly from the giant bundle of feelings inside of her. Nervousness was a big part of it, but excitement overtook it even more. Here she was in a brand new world, about to go on a brand new adventure for the life she always dreamed of, all with the support of her loving town and Pa. It was a fantasy life come true, and she was gonna make the best of it that she could. However, first, she was gonna have to knock. After all, being polite is the first step to getting good karma from God! At least, that's what one of her friends back home had always told her. She banged in succession three times and waited. After 10 seconds with no response, she couldn't help but yell out, "'Scuse me, Sirs or Ma'ams in there, but my name's Josie Mayfield and I'm here for my first Pokemon, iffin that's okay and yer open, which I think ya are!"
