Name: Maren "Ren" Roy
Age: 15
Hometown: Slateport City, Hoenn
Trainer Type: Coordinator
Physical Appearance: Maren is small and agile. She isn't built with a lot of muscle or stature standing at just a little over five feet. She has long brown hair that's usually kept out of her face by a simple ribbon or braided. She has a red scarf that she will not part with and ties in different styles to suit what she's wearing. Maren likes to dress fashionably even if it's not always very fancy. Everything must be color coordinated and look good on her. Skirts and blouses are common parts of her attire.
For contests, Maren will dress to match a theme. She can make something interesting out of almost anything, so her outfits tend to be quite variable. You're never totally sure what you're getting with Maren.
Picture:
Personality: Shy and unassuming, Maren is the sort of girl who most take for a pushover or a wallflower. She can find something beautiful in anyone and everything but is too afraid to say anything. She's very non-confrontational and would give her soul to see everyone else be happy. Unfortunately, this can often be to the detriment of her well being. Maren will try to pretend that she's alright all the time and nothing bothers her. She holds her emotions in so that people don't feel like they need to worry about her. She has an eye for fashion and pretty things though often in terms of dreaming stuff up from afar. Maren wants to be a much more confident person and have the courage to take a stand when it matters. Sometimes she even thinks that it wouldn't be so bad to stand up for herself and others once in awhile, but actually going through with it leaves her shaking.
History: Maren never came from a privileged family. Her father and brothers fished for a living while her mother sold produce at the market. From a young age, the girl helped tend the crops and enjoyed watching them grow from seeds. She was a simpleton living a simple life. Her parents loved her, but they were often busy making ends meet, and it was always made clear that there wasn't room for luxuries in the house. In what little free time existed, she learned street gymnastics by watching and copying older kids. Like any good athlete, Maren started learning young and kept at it behind her family's backs. A coordinator from the local contest hall once saw Maren practicing and praised her for having such a unique style and grace. The coordinator suggested that Maren get herself a Pokemon and compete in some contests. When Maren suggested the idea to her parents, she was sternly reminded that Pokemon training was a luxury she could not afford. For several months, Maren put her street gymnastics behind her and focused on farming. The dream never completely went away and lurked in the back of her mind. From time to time, Maren continued to mention her interest in becoming a coordinator to the same disproving reaction. Seemingly out of the blue, her parents surprised her with a scarf and boat ticket to the Caspian Region. Though they still didn't agree with her aspirations, she seemed truly set on it and perhaps she could make a future for herself while her parents settled with their lot in life. The money was left over and saved over the course of a few years from various produce and fish contests.
