Let the Journey Begin!

As she walked down the road towards Pontus Town, Seina had started to hum quietly. The noise was covered by the breeze going through the treetops, and the occasional noises of bird Pokemon chirping, and smaller Pokemon running through the underbrush of the forest. The young trainer came to a halt when a feathered Pokemon entered her vision. She came to a stop and crouched down slowly, not wanting to attract attention to herself. The Pokedex in her sweater's right pocket would hold the knowledge of this Pokemon, the only problem that Seina had was reaching the device before this Pokemon noticed and ran away. The only way to stall this Pokemon was to start a battle.

Seina reached into the inner left hand side of her sweater and pulled out the Pokeball that held her new partner. With Kazu's Pokeball in hand, she threw it forward, getting it close to the wild Pokemon. "Kazu, let's do this!" she shouted.

From the Pokeball came a light blue flash of light that came together and formed Kazu. The Charmander stood before the other wild Pokemon, with its tail ablaze. As Kazu stared down the Pokemon, Seina had pulled out her Pokedex to identify the bird Pokemon before her. After the Pokedex's sensors did a reading, it provided the information on the screen. Pidgey, a common sight in forests and woods. It flaps its wings at ground level to kick up blinding sand.

A smile appeared on Seina's face when she realized that this Pidgey would be a possibly Pokemon to have enter her team. "Kazu, use your Scratch attack!"

Kazu who was excited to fight had gotten fired-up and was ready to go. At the command of his partner, he prepared to fight and use his Scratch.

Excitement soared through Seina as she watched Kazu strike the wild Pidgey with his Scratch Attack. "Wooooo,' she cheered, jumping up with bright smile, 'Kazu, go ahead and strike the Pidgey again!"

Kazu had heard his partner cheering, and this made him feel the fight even more. The girl who had chosen him was happy with what he was doing. There was nothing in the world that could stop his enthusiasm at this moment. Since becoming the Pokemon of a trainer, he had a motivation to battle other Pokemon, and with his wish coming true, the only thing he could do was fight until he ran out of energy.

With his new command to attack again, he began a moving back towards the feathered Pokemon while raising his right arm back. "Charrrr,' he sounded while he started his Scratch attack towards the Pidgey, as soon as he believed that he had a shot at connecting the blow he finished, 'manderrr!" As soon as his attack was finished, he took a few steps back, trying to ensure an opening to react to if his opponent made an attack.

OOC: I think there is a mistake in the Pidgey's health, because I only did 8 damage, and its health went from 55 to 43/55.

The battle between the Pokemon on the trail were causing quite the stir. Not much damage had been done to the surroundings, but surely the sound of the battle had been more than enough to either scare away, or attract unwanted attention. So this is what a Pokemon Battle feels like, Seina thought as she placed her right hand over her heart. She could feel the beats speeding up, as though she was participating in the battle directly with Kazu. There was no doubt in her mind that this feeling she had was exactly the same as the flame burning within Kazu.

Kazu held his ground, baring the small teeth that he had in a way to intimidate the Pidgey. Even if he was not able to truly scare it, he wanted to show how strong he was, that he was powerful enough to serve together with his partner. As he thought about the praise he would get for winning, the flame on his tail began to grow hotter as he got even more excited. He waited on Seina before making any further move.

"Kazu, strike them again!" Seina shouted with a smile. I'm sure that if Kazu can deal more damage then I can catch this Pokemon, she thought while eyed the Pidgey. If she could catch this Pokemon she would have taken another step towards becoming a great Trainer that can one day become Champion of the region.

The Charmander on the other hand, heard the command given by Seina and began to move around to the opposite side of the Pidgey. If he could successfully sneak around to the other side of the Pokemon, he might be able to surprise it and weaken it even more. Once he got into a position that he liked, he rushed in, trying to close the short distance between him and the Pidgey as quickly as possible. When he was within attacking distance, he loosed another attack with his claws.

"Charmander!" Kazu cheered in excitement having landed his third attack. As he stood a few feet away from the Pidgey, he saw the bird puff itself up and charge him. He was unable to dodge the attack and was knocked back a few feet. He dug his lower claws into the ground to slow his body. As soon as he stopped he moved up his arm as if to wipe his face. Because the Pidgey was finally able to land a blow he was even more fired up. The battle was now proving to be interesting.

However, the reaction towards the attack was different for Seina. When she saw Kazu get hit, a part of her cringed and wanted to jump out to protect her Pokemon from any further attacks. Any bystander would see her have taken a slight step forward while raising her arms up a little bit before she froze. I have to believe in my partner, was the thought that made her change her mind about any interfering in the battle. "Kazu, just a few more hits and we can win!" she shouted with a smile, trying to let Kazu know her support.

At hearing his friend cheer for him, there was even more reason for Kazu to try his hardest. He maneuvered himself into a position to attack the Pidgey with. After scratching the ground with his foot in another intimidation work, he charged forward and attacked with his left claws this time. When his attack was finished, he moved back a safe distance to observe his target for his next opening.

Kazu saw the Pidgey collapse from his attack, however the fight was not over. The Pidgey had kicked up a bunch of sand with its talons. Grains of sand landed in Kazu's eyes, causing him to immediately shut them while rubbing his face, trying to get the dirt off. Even if he could still see, there was no way he would be perfectly accurate with his attacks anymore.

Seina saw the battle progress, and watched as Kazu successfully attacked. When he had sand thrown into his face, she knew that there would need to be another to finish the battle. The girl reached into the inside of her sweater and pulled out a red and white ball. She clicked part of the outside, causing the ball to enlarge to fill her entire hand. "Kazu, stand back,' she called forth while throwing the Poke Ball towards the Pidgey,' I'm gonna catch that Pidgey!"

When the ball hit the ground, it opened. From what Seina knew, the wild Pokemon would be pulled inside of it, and if it was weak enough, it would end up being captured, however, if the Pokemon still had some fight in it, the Poke Ball would not be able to hold it and it would break free. The moment Seina felt the feeling of the Poke Ball leave her fingers she started praying that the Pidgey would be caught.

The light from the Poke Ball engulfed the Pidgey, bringing it inside the confines of the device. Once it was inside, the Pidgey did whatever it could to escape, however, it as all for naught. He felt his strength give way, and let himself get captured.

To the onlookers, the ball opened and pulled the Pidgey within. Seina looked on with her fingers crossed. The ball closed as soon as it had absorbed the Pokemon and began rocking back and forth. There was a fight going on inside that would determine whether she caught the Pidgey. She held her breath as her eyes followed the Poke Ball. When it finally stopped, she gasped in shock. "It worked, it worked, it worked," she cheered with a glowing smile while kneeling next to Kazu.

The two rejoiced, with Kazu adding his own cheerful calls to the joyous moment. He had done his job well, and had made his partner happy. This was the feeling he enjoyed after the heat of battle. He would be rewarded with praise. His tail was swaying back and forth with a very hot flame showing his excitement.

"Great job Kazu,' she said while giving him an affectionate scratch on the head, 'I'll let you rest up until next time."

With that, she returned Kazu to his Poke Ball. After that, she retrieved the Pidgey's Poke Ball, "Welcome to the family, you'll be Ikki."

She placed Ikki's Poke Ball inside her sweater. Seina took a deep breath and swung her bag off and placed it on a the ground. From it, she pulled out a water bottle and took a drink. While she looked around the forest, she saw a white ball zooming around in front of her. It was definitely a Pokemon, and it was excited over something. The Pokemon was acting differently than the Pidgey was, and it interested her.

"Hello," she smiled, letting the Pokemon know they had captured her attention.
