Lead the Way

Rustling in the bushes, this definitely wouldn't end well.  And, oh look, he was right.  As if from 'nowhere" there came a small feline, and it pounced at poor Ruri.  Thankfully it missed by practically an inch, and Ruri was, well, Ruri somewhat riled up and frightened at the same time.  Honestly, the current predicament was confusing, there was a threatening looking Shinx, which Ruri probably wouldn't fair well with.  Currently she appeared to be somewhat scared from the Shinx, scared enough that she wouldn't be able to use her full power, for physical attacks at least.  Well, the Shinx didn't sound too pleased with them being in its territory or something, or just not pleased with anyone period.  With the small feline hissing at them their current situation didn't look very good, and that was easy to tell.

With Ruri right up against his face he simply decided to leave the Shinx alone.  Sure, there might have been a chance to take down the Shinx and capture it, but honestly, the repercussions didn't look very good.  And hey, there were more Pokemon in route one that he could catch, and that might be more profitable for his future plans as a official Breeder with their own Ranch.  So, deciding to leave the small feline alone he grabbed the super sized Pumpkaboo and walked around the Shinx, before he trudged forward through Route one once more.

Jordan paused, mid step.  It sounded as if something had cried underneath his foot, and looking, low and behold, he was right.  Beneath the spot he was about to step was a water and bug Pokemon, and to be more specific it was a Surskit.  It was so teeny tiny, and it looked as if it was riled up for a battle.  This Surskit looked as if it was intending for a battle, because it leered at Ruri.  Well, that was certainly rude to do.  But that was the best way to get her attention, and his.  "Alright, if you want a battle little guy I'mma give you one.  Or Ruri would, technically."  He said, before smiling at the Pumpkaboo before placing some distance between himself and the little bug.  

Ruri did the same to an extent, before releasing a might "Kaboo" when she was ready.  "Alright Alright, now lets see, what did you know again?"  He said, before opening his satchel.  He was fairly careful as to not disturb the egg that was bundled up in his spare hoody while he looked for the paper.  Once he found it he brought it out, before quickly scanning it.  "Alright Ruri, Confuse Ray!"  He said, with some enthusiasm in his voice.  Following out her trainer's orders now Ruri shone bright lights rapidly from her body, as to confuse the Surskit.

Oh, oh just splendid.  It looked like the Surskit tried to find Ruri by her nice, pumpkinny scent.  That probably wasn't the best idea, since Jordan had some of that mixed onto him, and it ended up being him who almost got hit by bubbles.  He had made a sharp turn with his body as to aboid the attack, which he only managed to barely do.  For Pete's sake, why did it have to follow her sent?  That was all stuck to his pants which he was going to need to wash soon, and his face.  Seriously, why couldn't this Surskit try listening for the sound she makes or something?  That way he he could avoid a bubble to the face, which might make him crack his egg.  And that, that was the last thing he wanted to happen.  If that happened he would strangle the Surskit before it could give its fair wells to whomever it cares about.

Well, it was probably a good idea to focus on the battle, which was why Jordan pushed the possibilities of what could happen out of the way.  Reading from the sheet of paper he decided to go for an attacking move this time around.  "Alright Ruri, use Astonish!"  He said, before the Pumpkaboo followed out its orders.  Diving down in front of the Surskit Ruri produced a bone chilling "Kaboo" before making the scariest face she could.  Hopefully the Surskit didn't close its eyes, and covered its ears, or this attack would have been pointless.  But honestly, it wouldn't that quick with confuse ray still in effect, right?  Or wait, was it still in effect?  It didn't matter, all that mattered was that he defeated the little bugger.

Fantastic, the Surskit didn't avoid the attack, that was some good luck.  But it still didn't appear as if the Surskit wasn't down enough to catch.  It's not like he was expecting the move to deal a huge amount of damage or anything, but it was slightly disappointing that the Surskit still wouldn't stay in a ball.  Or at least that's what he thought, since he hadn't tried it yet.  But he'd rather have a guaranteed, or somewhat guaranteed, capture, just to makes things easier and all.  But, moving back to the battle he was going to have to do something.  It didn't appear as if Ruri had any other move besides Astonish that could deal damage to the Surskit, so he was simply going to need Ruri to frighten the Surskit.  It might get nightmares, but hey, there's probably a great Pokemon therapist in the next town over for those things.

 Alright, alright, he had to get things going before the confusion from confuse ray went away, if it hadn't already.  "Ruri go for another Astonish!"  He said, before Ruri stretched her mouth a bit, trying to make sure she'd make a good scary face for the Surskit.  After the quick stretching was done she dived down in front of the Surskit, making her scariest face.  When she was practically touching the Surskit she let out another mighty "Kaboo," hoping that this time would deal as much damage as last time.

Well, this Surskit would certainly be waking up with a bruise tomorrow morning.  Apparently the confusion was strong enough to make it believe a rock, a bloody rock, was Ruri.  Honestly, either the Surskit was an idiot or the confusion was madly strong.  Either way though, it appeared as if the Surskit broke out of the confusion, what a pitty.  It would be an awful shame if someone were to, oh, maybe use confusion again?  Yes, Jordan was feeling like messing with the Surskit before capturing it, which might have been a little mean.  But hey, it wasn't like he was going to force it to hit a rock, that would be its own fault.  Definitely, it wouldn't be because of the confusion from confuse ray, nah, never.

With a small grin Jordan slipped the piece of paper into his satchel, before giving Ruri her order.  "Alright Ruri, let's do this again.  Confuse Ray!"  He said, before the Pumpkaboo followed out its order.  Hovering through the air Ruri made her way towards the Surskit.  Once close enough she began to flash beams of light from her body.  First from the left side, then the right, then the left  again.  The beams of light were immensely bright, probably the brightest they could would be during the day.  Hopefully this would confuse the Surskit again, and not miss and only aggravate it.  That would be bad, fairly bad.

Splendid, the Surskit was confused again!  It had hit a rock, which cleared its head before, but it surely wasn't going to do that again.  This time he was set to capture it, especially since it tried to use bubble, and failed horribly.  This was probably the prime time to capture it, with its health low and all, and it being confused only made things better!  Jordan was definitely going to take this as a chance to capture the little bugger.  Hastily opening his satchel he looked about for a Pokeball, however he was especially careful not to disturb his egg.  Heck, the egg took up most of the space in the bag, once he got to the next town he was going to get it fixed up to properly hold an egg.  However this wasn't the time to think about so meaningless things, or meaningful ones, either way, gotta capture this little bugger!  Quickly grabbing a Pokeball from his bag he clicked it a few times.  "Ruri, come on over here!"  He said, before the Pumpkaboo drifted through the air towards her trainer.  

With Ruri out of the way now he through the ball at the little water and bug Pokemon, in hopes of catching it.  Now, if he was correct it was from two egg groups, which made it an even more interesting Pokemon, aside from how it could glide across water.  With his eyes glued to the ball he watched as it began to jiggle back and forth.  When it came to a halt the Surskit would be his, that's how these things worked from what he knew.  Any moment now it would stop, or break, hopefully it would just stop jiggling.
